LIQUIFER , a new generation firm of Earth and Space research and design was founded by Barbara Imhof and Sumita Mohanty in Vienna in 2003. In 2005 Waltraut Hoheneder joined LIQUIFER and the 'partnership' LIQUIFER Systems Group H.u.I. GesbR was incorporated in 2006.

The 'association' LIQUIFER Systems Group (LSG) was established in 2004 by Norbert Frischauf, Barbara Imhof and Susmita Mohanty as an international, multidisciplinary task force. The LSG Board Members comprise Norbert Frischauf, Sandra Häuplik-Meusburger (habitability expert untill 2011), Barbara Imhof, Kürsad Özdemir and René Waclavicek.

LIQUIFER and the LSG association were integrated into LIQUIFER Systems Group H.u.I. GesbR in 2006.

Since June 2008, LSG has a presence in Mumbai (India) led by LSG co-founder Susmita Mohanty.

In 2011 LIQUIFER Systems Group became a GmbH registered under FN 362379 k in Vienna, Austria
